Coastal Interior Design Trends 2019 - Beach Inspired Décor

Coastal Interior Design Trends 2019 - Beach Inspired Décor

Coastal style is one of the fastest-growing interior design trends in 2019, and this beach-inspired decor reaches homes far along our Northern Beaches. Rooms decorated in each of these coastal styles do have similarities, such as a love of ocean hues and sun-bleached white, incorporation of natural materials and fabrics, and a celebration of natural light, it's meant to evoke the breeziness of the beach. Basically, it feels like summer year-round inside these homes.

Beach-inspired decor is a timeless interior design trend and is certainly growing in popularity, marked by a collection of cozy and casual pieces reflecting the easy-going way of life along the beaches. The key decorative element is the colour white, which is used within furniture, bedding, and wall colour along with some accents of bold or pastel shades. All-white walls, linens, and blues inspired by the ocean all comprise a beach-chic style home.

On the “Beaches,” our own unique beach-inspired décor has evolved over the decades, going from quaint beach cottage style through to the contemporary sprawling coastal-inspired interiors of today.

We too are fans of the Hamptons style beach aesthetic, except that we have put a uniquely Australian twist on it. With its down to earth relaxed appeal, soothing hues and appreciation of all things sea, sun and sand, this beach style is quintessentially Australian. It would be fair to say that the Hampton style of beach house is one of the top interior design trends in 2019, especially in and around beachside suburbs like Manly and Curl Curl.

Clarke & Humel have many chic beach homes in our portfolio of house sales and have recently sold: 46A Brighton Street, Freshwater, which was sold by Mike Dunn in September with a guide around $3,000,000. Showcasing cutting-edge contemporary design aesthetics, state-of-the-art appointments, and spectacular alfresco entertaining areas, this brand-new Hamptons-inspired freestanding residence set new standards in modern family living.

Mike Dunn and Michael Clarke, also brought to market 49 Surfers Parade, Freshwater in March this year. This home had been beautifully transformed from an original beach cottage into a luxurious coastal retreat showcasing spectacular indoor/outdoor entertaining with a glorious North rear setting, within a stroll to the beach and Freshwater Village. This redesigned weatherboard cottage sold at auction in the mid $2,000,00’s.

Here in Australia, we have an abundance of rustic hardwoods, be it weathered, raw, stained or painted white, and natural textures that are perfect for creating this Australian, Hamptons-inspired aesthetic that are very much in keeping with the Beach inspired interior design trends for 2019.

From untreated or recycled floorboards, native tree trunk stools and exquisite bamboo furnishings right through to the softest of merino fibres, the Australian take on this look is everything the classic is and so much more. Us who live along the beaches aren't afraid to bring the outside in, so think driftwood feature pieces, collected beach treasures, plenty of greenery, cane and rattan furnishings, rustic pieces and sisal or jute floor rugs. Not only are these materials beautiful in themselves, but they also look even more exquisite when paired back with all the natural lighting that is the defining feature of Hamptons style and one of the most breathtaking things about the Australian landscape.

37 Stirgess Avenue, Curl Curl is now on the market with Clarke & Humel, and is set to be auctioned on Saturday 23rd November, with a guide of $2,800,000 - $3,080,000. This sumptuous cottage has been innovatively redesigned and artfully recrafted to provide a haven of relaxed luxury in an exclusive beachside address. Embracing its authentic beach house heritage throughout, the home offers bespoke finishes and freshly schemed light-filled spaces flowing to private north rear alfresco entertaining areas with a sparkling heated pool, sitting just along the pathway to Curl Curl Lagoon and Beach.
